Amazing Work out of Greater DC Cares!

Check out this amazing work coming from HandsOn Network affiliate, Greater DC Cares. This message comes to us from HandsOn VISTA, Arielle Krasner:

On Saturday, April 24, 2010, I will be volunteering along with 5,000 other Greater DC Cares volunteers as a part of the Washington region’s largest day of volunteer service — Servathon 2010!

Servathon has an 18-year history of bringing together thousands of area volunteers for extraordinary days of service. Last year, in just a few hours on a Saturday morning in May, volunteers planted trees throughout the city, prepared thousands of meals for the hungry, removed trash from our community public parks and national monuments, revitalized public school and neighborhood play spaces, and much, much more! This year we will once again have the opportunity to make a lasting impact at nonprofits and schools in our region.

Servathon is very much like a walk-a-thon or ride-a-thon. In conjunction with my volunteer service this spring, I am also raising money to support the incredible work of Greater DC Cares (and me as GDCC VISTA staff!)

Please support me and my awesome team “Lizzie Borden and The 3 Wacks” in my commitment to Servathon by making a contribution to support the fine work of Greater DC Cares to improve nonprofits and schools in the region throughout the year. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and any amount will have a huge impact upon our community.

Your support of:

• $10 buys the landscape materials to revitalize the grounds of a high school
• $25 will help paint an elementary school classroom
• $50 will help restock a DC Public School library
• $150 will support a resume development training for students and parents
• $500 contributes to a jungle gym for a new playground
• $1,000 will help build a computer lab for students

Thanks so much for supporting an event that is extremely important to me. Let’s take action together and support Greater DC Cares and Servathon 2010!
