HandsOn Corps VISTA Impact

America’s Promise Alliance recently listed Ames, IA as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People. They assert that Ames is, “a unique, exciting, and flourishing community for youth to grow and be supported.” To support this claim, they cite two Volunteer Center of Story County programs–AmeZone and Story County Youth Philanthropists (SCYP). Amezone is a program developed and managed by Laura Logsdon, a HandsOn Network VISTA serving with the Volunteer Center of Story County, together with a United Ames VISTA. Story County Youth Philanthropists (SCYP) is composed of high school students in Ames involved in meaningful ways to learn and be philanthropic. SCYP was developed by HandsOn Network VISTA Amanda Martin in a collaboration between the Volunteer Center of Story County and the Story County Community Foundation.

Congratulations HandsOn Corps VISTAs! Your hard work has impacted the community in a positive way and people are taking note.
